Public Search report on the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, showed consistent health and safety lapses at the nations nuclear weapons assembly plant. Radionuclides and other toxins, the report showed, are threatening the largest freshwater underground aquifer in the country and citizens within hundreds of miles of the plant. The Public Search report and others like it led to revised environmental guidelines, a review by the Department of Energy of past practices and an increased budget for clean-up of polluted sites.
